Seventh-Year Coach Inks Deal Worth $15 Million

Tennessee baseball coach Tony Vitello has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the Vols through the 2027 season and raise his salary to $15 million per year, according to WBIR.

Vitello, who has been with Tennessee since 2017, has a base salary of $350,000, which makes up part of his $15 million annual salary. He earned the bonus after the Vols won the 2021 College World Series.

According to WBIR, Vitello is earning a minimum of $1,612,000 this season and an extra $28,000 if the Vols can defeat the Vanderbilt Commodores in the SEC Tournament.

Vitello's new contract will make him one of the highest-paid coaches in college baseball. He is now tied with Texas A&M's Jim Schlossnagle as the second-highest-paid coach in the SEC, behind only LSU's Jay Johnson.

Vitello has been a hugely successful coach at Tennessee. He has led the Vols to three NCAA Tournament appearances in his six seasons, including the College World Series in 2021. He has also won two SEC East Division titles and one SEC Tournament championship.
